Persian Woman
“Gol posht o ru nadâreh” A flower has no front or back This is one of the hardest shots that i have taken. This is Kandovan, ancient village in East Azerbaijan province of Iran near the mountain Sahand. The ancient people excavated their homes in the volcanic Kandovan rock formed 140.000 years ago. People still uses the rock houses and continue their daily life. Even though it is a touristic village, local people was not familiar with photographers. Especially women are not allowed to be photographed without a permission. This Persian woman was walking from the foothills of the rock up to her house placed in the rock, carrying laundry box full of clothes. When I realized how she was looking at me with her harshest expressions, i had already taken 3 photos. I was warned by the man who was guiding us that she might tell to her husband…
Hergla Town / Tunisia
It is a small cliff-top town in north-eastern Tunisia. The photos were taken from a trip in 2010 where started from capital city Tunis to Sousse. Hergla was on our way and it is located by the coast of Mediterranean sea with white houses and blue windows and doors. Not much people were in the streets but i realized this old woman coming from a hill top with a hay bale on her head and under her arms. She walked down from the rocks and used the stairs while following me with her eyes. Published through Photo Imagine Art.
